Hyper Card
MasterCard has emerged as the fastest growing credit card network in the USA.
As of September 30th, the New York-based card association had 268.5 million
domestic cards-in-force, a 20% increase since September 30, 2000.

A new credit card linked to your paycheck is in the works. The e-Duction

Punching a PIN to use a debit card may soon be replaced by biometrics. A
major credit card terminal manufacturer last week unveiled a new system
that utilizes fingerprint-derived identification technology at the
point-of-sale that does not infringe upon individual privacy.

Unless Americans pull out their credit cards and jam stores this week, the
2001 holiday shopping season is more or less a bust. With eight shopping days till
Christmas, retailers have cut prices so deeply that an "After-Christmas Sale"

Citi Smart Card
The nation's largest bank credit card issuer and the world's second largest
payment card network have jumped into the U.S. smart card arena. Citibank and
MasterCard launched the Citi Smart Card this week offering a free smart card
reader and a free electronic wallet.

Non Event
Today's Fed interest rate cut, which will drive the prime rate down to 4.75%
over the next 24 hours, will essentially be a non-event for credit
cardholders.
While a few credit cards may decline in January as a result of today's rate
cut, the vast majority of credit cards will be unaffected.

If you're thinking about buying a gift card for a dining experience, you no
longer have to be hemmed-in with a specific restaurant. This week,
Mississippi-based The Dinnerguest Company unveiled a prepaid VISA gift card
that can be used at nearly any restaurant in the world.

Stockback MasterCard
If you're thinking about jumping back into the stock market there is a new
credit card that might get you ahead of the curve and with little risk. Chase
and Stockback Capital have teamed up to offer a MasterCard that gives you
up to 11% of your purchases back in the form of rewards that are automatically
invested in a mutual fund.

Office Depot Card
The business card market continues to heat up as more and more issuers offer
such cards with generous rewards programs. This week, Office Depot and Chase
launched a VISA Platinum Business Card that enables cardholders to earn 2
points for every dollar spent at Office Depot and 1 point for every dollar
spent elsewhere.
