Not Best Cardholders
Consumers who signup for credit cards on the Internet are not ideal
cardholders says J.D. Power. A forthcoming study by J.D. Power and Associates concludes
that consumers who apply for a credit card through the Internet carry higher
balances but are more likely to miss payments.

Loose Change
A new survey estimates that $7.7 billion of out-of-circulation change is
sitting in American households. According to the "Coinstar National Currency Poll - A Periodic Look at Americans and Their Money", the typical American consumer has a stash of change valued at approximately $30.

Breaking Ground
As most major card issuers have jacked up late payment fees and over-limit
fees to $29, South Dakota-based Green Tree Retail Services Bank has taken its fees
to the $30 level.

Sears, Roebuck and Co. wants to reward its best customers with the 'Sears Premier Card'. The new program is designed to recognize and reward customers
who have made 'Sears Card' purchases totaling at least $600 in the previous 12

affinity credit card. The new program involves an affinity VISA card for more

Kids, not college kids or teenagers, may soon be able carry credit cards
linked to their parents' accounts. AT&T Corp. has been granted a patent for
a unique system and method that enables the parent to control the use of an

Canada's Citizens Bank and Amnesty International Canada have joined up to
offer the new Citizens Bank Amnesty International VISA. The new card, which
