American Express signed up another banking partner yesterday with the announcement of the 'Credit Lyonnais American Express Corporate Card'. Credit Lyonnais will offer the card to French corporations. Details of the program are still being negotiated however current plans call for a launch before June 30.

NationsBank and the U.S. Postal Service kicked off a national pilot yesterday of the 'Federal Postage Payment Card'. The card, to be used exclusively by federal agencies, offers a pre-assigned credit limit and is restricted to postal purchases. Eligible purchases include meter resettings, business reply mail, permit imprints, 'Express Mail', money orders, traveler's checks, COD's, and passport fees.

First USA announced Tuesday it signed agreements with four Major League Baseball teams to issue and market their affinity cards beginning April 1. The Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, Florida Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies will all offer First USA 'Classic', 'Gold' and 'Platinum' cards.

Yesterday the card specialist announced it is expanding its 'Comcast Rewards VISA Card' to Comcast's 300,000 cable customers in the Philadelphia area.

An economist with DRI/McGraw-Hill said yesterday there is a disproportionate acceleration of credit card debt among lower-income Americans. Dr. David Wyss says a full 27% of families with household income below $10,000 now have credit card obligations that exceed 40% of their income.

As reported in yesterday's CardFlash American Express has introduced a revolving credit card in Taiwan. The new card will be the first AmEx card offered with a new blue color and design scheme. American Express says its will market the new 'Blue' credit card to its current 200,000 charge cardholders in Taiwan as well as the general public.
